Why choose walsall studio school?

Level 2 Enterprise Tech provides transferable skills allowing students a smooth transition from an educational environment to a work environment, by providing an insight to a multitude of business sectors and departments. At Walsall Studio School students studying Level 2 Enterprise Tech will develop a range of life skills including: enhancing team working, problem solving, independent learning and communication skills whilst instilling confidence in our students to make themselves stand out in a competitive working/educational environment. Students will take a proactive part in their studies by maintaining a good understanding of current affairs and applying this to their studies on the impact of the external environment on business. Enterprise Tech will also nurture their creative side in developing marketing and promotional campaigns, planning and pitching a business idea whilst also developing their financial acumen. Our aim is to ensure that students develop and achieve an understanding of enterprises that is directly transferable, not only to other subjects, but also beyond, developing a wide range of practical and theoretical skills that will prepare them for the future. Therefore, this course is aimed to prepare students with the knowledge, skills and confidence to be ready for the next stage of their life either in further education or career.

What will I learn?

Enterprise Tech 2022 is a new qualification in which students will consider the practical application of business concepts whilst conducting their own research and applying their understanding within the assessments of written reports and developing their presentation skills which all contribute to providing a dynamic learning experience. The depth and breadth of the content is designed to engage and inspire students through topics and issues that are relevant in today’s society – they will study key contemporary developments such as digital technology and business ethics which typically looks at how businesses make decision and their community involvement, helping students to reflect critically on theirs. The curriculum continues to focus on developing resilient learners who can recover from mistakes and effectively solve problems. This will help develop lifelong learning and future preparation. We endeavour to make the curriculum as fun and interesting as possible with a high level of challenge by offering breadth and depth of experiences for the students in order to motivate their active engagement and inspire them to be successful businesspeople or even the next famous Entrepreneur!

How will I study?

The BTEC Tech Award in Enterprise has been designed to help KS4 14–16-year-old learners develop their entrepreneurial skills through practical, skills–based learning with experienced staff. Over the course of two years learners will complete three components which will be assessed internally and externally.

  • Assessment is through task–based assessments so learners can demonstrate their knowledge and skills in work–related scenarios.
  • Learners will explore, develop and apply their knowledge helping to develop key transferable skills such as research and data analysis to support their progression to further learning and the workplace.
  • The flexible approach to the content of each component means the course can be delivered in the best way for the learners.
  • This highly motivating, creative approach to teaching business and enterprise will encourage the students to explore the world of business and what makes or breaks an enterprise.
