At Studio School & Sixth we pride ourselves on the pastoral support provided to our community. We utilise a graduated approach in order for students to receive a gold standard in care. We have been proactive in engaging our own in-house ‘headspace’ programme to avoid some of the waiting times with external services. The programme has not only supported students but their families as well.
We prioritise contact with parents and carers in order to ensure that they have the necessary tools to help support their child’s mental health and wellbeing. Parents and carers are given access to external agencies to ensure the whole family are supported.
All staff receive regular training from various sources in order to keep up to date with the latest findings. We use multiple external agencies and industry experts to promote the importance and mental health and wellbeing.
Mental health and wellbeing plays a fundamental role within the pastoral curriculum to ensure that it has a prominent position for all students. This is further supported by our PSHE and Prince’s Trust delivery.
We hold weekly assemblies to ensure that students are exposed to industry experts on a regular basis and receive relevant and contemporary information on the issues that affect them most.
Walsall Studio School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff, students and volunteers to share in this commitment.
